I've actually yet to see a movie that isn't tweeted about...

Seems you're confusing the trending topics, with what can be gauged. One has to employ the search field and make the correct search term, with quotation marks at each end. Then you save that search. (A feature Twitter has.) Then you can access that film on Twitter at any time afterwards, and gauge what frequency of tweets it receives/generates.

Few films trend on Twitter, as trending topics are only the global top 10 most tweeted topics.

For this weekend's openers, I only ever saw Last Song trend - sporadically. I didn't monitor Twiter very closely, though - others may also have trended. But forget trending, what's most helpful are the search tools I described in the first paragraph above, here.. Smile
