Will this work? idk. worth a try
Its not theaters fault there is no new/big product out right now. So they were looking at a disastrous weekend. So to get 3000+ theaters to promote a really big deal, maybe get a whole days worth of audience in your theater for a change. show them the sizzle reel, get a ton of eyes on the upcoming product, the few big new trailers, promote your rewards program/monthly sub, and garner some community good will, maybe you get a few people in who hadnt been since the Before Times, who wil now be lured back. all in all sounds good to me. snob said it devalues the product, so you prefer an empty theater on principle?
DL: Angelika has reversed their stance, will participate in National Cinema Day. Landmark still not. Aug 29, 17:19
should have done it on Labor Day at least to get butts in seats on a holiday that doesn't usually do huge numbers {nm} Aug 29, 17:42
It's more about the media coverage/spin/buzz "did you hear movie theatres sold out shows from opening to close Saturday?" Aug 29, 18:12
