CelebStock and StarBonds

This was not meant as a criticism of your hard work. Only to point out context necessary to make good use of it.

Posted by: mrbinns (a.k.a mrbinnsBondLeague) on Apr 26, 20:15 in response to RogerMore's post Like every other factor in making Starbond investments,...

I am currently working 3 ports.  I have my mega port where I am playing an all in strategy and I own every security.  Therefore, except for some playing the players, I just point them in the right direction and I am patient.  I use PABS as a tool to save time, although bounce comes into play.  There are other factors.  Is a MovieStock at 50 now going to rise in the next 7-12 months?

BONDS is currently almost 70M, equivalent to a 200 M port with 1/3 of the investments in StarBonds.  I still have to make investment choices.  Buy, Sell, Hold.   Just like the real world.  The reaseon that the Fund has had success is that I am willing to dump low dROI for higher.  In context, dROI helps me choose between a large gainer 3 monts out or a smaller gainer in 3 weeks.

My Bonds YTD is, after about 3 months has risen from 2 M to almost the point where BONDS began (20M)  The dROI choices have been tougher.  In fact, comparing myself to others in the league, it seems that going straight to dROI, rather than playing the bounce, has worked better, at lease where the dROI is higher.

Now as to the example, I did not want to make a call to action, so I did not name the movieStock, but it is a limited release that will delist in July.

Since the dROI is proportional to the number of days to delist, a faster delist would raise all 3 SBO's dROI in the same proportion.  A later delist would lower the 3 SBO's proportionally.

In the example, the biggest gross gainer, almost 20 points, would require an investment of about 170.  The gain was about 12 pct.

The bond with the smallest gross gain, about 5 points, would only require an investment of 7.6 and was a gain of about 66Pct of the investment.

The one in the middle, 12 point gain out of about 80, gains about 15 pct.

Those percentages stay the same, no matter how long until delst.

Now as to the problem of changes....Change is tne name of the game.  If you snooze, you lose.  Movies change release dates all the time.  This not only changes the dROI, but in many cases, the order of delist, creation or elimination of double adjusts, etc. Part of the difficulty of maintaining a chart is making the changes, paying attention to Zero Box Office, etc.    dROI is not etched in stone, and one has to constantly be ready to change positons, especially if one has LIMITED resources.

islander responed to the quiz,, and he felt that he would prefer to invest 170 points to make 20, rather than 7 to make 5.  He has a large port, but cannot buy everything.

One last point.  The Bucket List is a similar example.  We don't know when the delsit will occur, so those with limited resources have to make choices, and percentage gained is the key.

I found an interesting example of why context is needed wth respect to the Post Adjust Bond Show, with respect to dROI.... Buy StarBond Fund 18 Apr 26, 12:46

Like every other factor in making Starbond investments, dROI is a tool that can be used and/or ignored by traders as appropriate. RogerMore Apr 26, 17:48

Hmmm... if you don't day-trade and you don't use dROI, what Starbond tool do you use? RogerMore Apr 27, 10:09

he says they're attached to the same movie, so surely they adjust over the same period {nm} Jane_Citizen Apr 27, 00:35

Fantastic debate between some of the heavy hitters! srrichardson Apr 26, 23:07

In my experience, actual dROI (rather than calculated dROI) is larger for movies that have a higher next adjust over a span of 3 days. PRodQuanta Apr 27, 11:08

Implying that I actually use a mix of both investment strategies and it works great. Thanks to both of you. {nm} PRodQuanta Apr 27, 11:10

Heh - I thought I knew what you meant until I read your IM. {nm} RogerMore Apr 27, 13:28

I am not sure what you mean because your terminology is off....BUT Buy StarBond Fund 18 Apr 27, 20:33

I'm assuming dROI is daily Return On Investment (this very well could be wrong, I haven't checked). My explanation is inside PRodQuanta Apr 28, 09:13

This excludes any bounce phenomena {nm} PRodQuanta Apr 28, 09:31

This is known as the Bounce. It's something that mrbinns (in particular) does very well, and I assume it's what Razorhawk does also. RogerMore Apr 28, 09:39

(Oh actually, it's not the Bounce - but I think my IM still has it) {nm} RogerMore Apr 28, 09:41

Yes, I believe you have the gist. Playing the players/the bounce is somewhat different. It boils down to dROI ~ 1.5ROI in first ~1.5 days. {nm} PRodQuanta Apr 28, 10:28

I'd short all 3. If they become popular, you can sell at the estimated delist early, otherwise, you will at least cover the 2%, likely more {nm} arf Apr 28, 22:41
