many US movies make more on the international market than in the US. TERM4 being a recent case in point (but there are many other examples, I believe).
The EU is much more populous than the US, and a larger economy also. (It's the world's largest economy, per se.)
Anyways, when we say domestic markets, don't we mean US + Canada, and possibly Mexico also - i.e. North America? The HSX box office is US + Canada, I believe? Even though the US is almost 10 times more populous than Canada, I guess it's best not to leave them out of mention.. 
As for GIJOE, however, I definitely agree that the US will be at least half its market - I don't see too much cross over potential for it to international markets. Nowhere near as much as TERM4 or ANDEM, anyways. It's very much a US phenomenon, this GIJOE. So perhaps that's what you meant?
