Movies

i just had a hard time taking it serious as a drama. most of the film just seemed to meander thru with haphazard consequence.

Posted by: adrenalin112 on Feb 16, 11:52 in response to GalacticPothealer's post Yes, I really liked it. I was a bit surprised myself...

the breakdancing sequences were comical to me, she was utterly atrocious at it and yet had this pipedream that there would be some success in the dance world for her!?!?!?

and i didnt get the storyline with the horse in the trailer park.  she tried to free it, then almost gets raped, then comes back for her stuff, talks to the guy here & there and then we dont address that storyline anymore.  (its been awhile so i may have forgotten a bit).

the married guy double dippin storyline i felt was contrite, except for the one dynamic where he messes with both the mom & main character daughter.  that was odd to say the least but at least a controversial enough moment to make the movie discussion worthy.

and maybe its the american in me, but i dont get why the family's neighborhood wasnt swarming with authorities while the little girl was gone.  that bit just seemed hokey to me as well.

no beef with the way the movie concludes, there was not going to be a happy ending or a true resolution.

i didnt necessarily dislike it, but i wouldnt recommended as more than an average movie.

I don't see how Hurt Locker got a nom. It is just OK. I think some want to call it 'reality,' even with clear Hollywood fictional strokes. edzep Feb 16, 08:02
